Once again, I have let this lapse while I lived my life.  I know I should keep up with it, but at the end of the day there are so many more important things to do that blogging falls by the wayside.  I am taking this time to update you on my life these past few weeks.

I am in my 4th and final quarter of ASL at MCC.  I have one more quarter's worth of classes, but those will go towards my general ed. core.  I will also have to take ASL V when I get to NCU.  I am finally getting math done.  To graduate, I have to finish a minimum off 2 sections, but my goal is 3.

I have registered for a local competition, Winterfest, which will be held at the end of February.  If I remember, I will post pictures on this site, otherwise you can check my skating blog or my Facebook page.  A few weeks ago, I slipped while I was skating and hit my head on the ice, resulting in a concussion.  It makes school harder and also means that I do not get to help with babysitting as much as I would like.

In July, I am headed to the National State Games in Lincoln, which is a very big deal for me.  I am really looking forward to making my national debut in figure skating.  I have set up a fundly account to hopefully help me raise money for this event.

That's all for now.  Hopefully I will get better at updating this in the weeks to come.

Life Update

Testing...
Testing...
Is anyone there?
I honestly did not expect to leave my blog untouched for almost a year.  Life got (ahem) kinda busy.  So here's what's been happening since then.
My sister turned 19, got her license, graduated, and went off to college.  She has become a more regular poster than I am.

Mom and I watch four - yes four - beautiful children in our home Monday through Friday.  We had a two month break while the mom   of the three girls was on maternity leave, and started watching a 5 year old boy in September.

I am taking part-time classes at Metro, hoping to transfer in as much as I can to NCU next year.  At this point I will be either a second semester sophomore or a first semester junior just based on the amount of credits I will transfer.  I have bought another pair of skates because my feet grew - and are still growing - and had a lesson with Burton Powley when we went to pick up my skates.

That's really it for now.  I will try to post more often but as you can see, I am really quite busy.  I am excited by the direction my life is taking and willing to see where God leads me on this journey called life.

Allergies - Updated

So two years ago I made a post about my many allergies.  and two weeks ago I found out about all of these things that are made from corn.  Like dextrose (think Lidocaine, Novocaine, I.V.s, etc)

So now I have TWO lists to carry on my person AND my corn allergy got a lot more complicated...

I would like to say, however, that this list does not explain that certain things like citric acid, dextrose, and MSG are not always made from corn, but can be.  This list adds a whole other dimension to my allergies.

I Got A Job!!!!

Yes, I did.  And yes, I am going to balance work with school, college classes, and skating.  It will be a full schedule, I know, but I want this and I am excited.  At this point I will start when the rink opens in 2 weeks.
I promise to try and post more, and I will post the link to my skating blog in a few days.

Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman

So, this week was the third meeting of our Bible Study about Esther.  Let me tell you, Beth Moore is making me notice things in this book that I never have before! I am really enjoying myself and I can't wait till next week!  So here are some of the things from this weeks session.
Scenario #3 - It's tough being a woman in a mean world.
1. Meanness always has a history.

  • Consider Mordecai (the Jew) and Haman (the Agagite).  Mordecai was from the tribe of Benjamin and a direct descendant of King Saul, while Haman was presumably an Amalakite and a direct descendant of King Agag, who was killed by Samuel after King Saul supposedly "wiped out" the entire Amalekite race.  (1 Samuel 15:10-23, 30)
2.  Meanness perceives a threat, and we have to identify it.
3.  Meanness catches like a virus.
  • The word Agag is believed to be related to the Assyrian term which means "to be powerful, vehement, angry."
  • The name Haman sounds similar to the Hebrew word for wrath.
4.  Meanness is curable! See Romans 12:17-21.

Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman - Session One

Last night was session one of our bible study on Esther.  This week's scenario is It's tough being a woman in a world where beauty is a treatment.  When you really think about it, as Xerxes was searching for a new queen, he took the prettiest girls and then gave them intensive beauty treatments for a full year.  They weren't good enough as they were.  This is exactly what our society does to women these days.  We take the beautiful ones and they have to constantly use beauty treatments all the time.  Our society makes beauty something you do, not something you are.
Beth Moore shared some scriptures that really helped me gain perspective.
Colossians 2:10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
Song of Solomon 7:10 ISV I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me. {I belong to Christ, and His desire is for me}
